Upper School Math Teacher - Grades 6-9
Title: Upper School Teacher -Math
Department: Upper School
Reports To: Upper School Head
Classification: Full-time Academic Year, Exempt
Description: The Upper School Math Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing
curriculum, teaching and supervising children in groups and individually, and helping children
grow intellectually, socially, and mentally. The upper school teacher communicates regularly
with parents on their child's progress. This position will include teaching 3-4 sections of middle
school math and coaching two seasons or supervising another equivalent extracurricular activity.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active
learning.
● Develop lesson plans and assessments that follow established school procedures.
● Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
● Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
● Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and
procedures. Maintain discipline per the rules and disciplinary systems of Bement.
● Provide students with appropriate and timely feedback on their work.
● Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
● Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
● Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents
regarding student progress and student needs.
● Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, etc.
Position Requirements:
Experience
● Prior teaching experience (3-5 years) is preferred, but those early in their teaching
career are encouraged to apply.
Education
● Minimum B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution.
Desired Qualifications:
● Comfort teaching math topics ranging from Pre-Algebra to Algebra II
● Strong content knowledge
Skills & Knowledge:
● Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal education guidelines.
● An understanding of the developmental needs of primary and middle-level students
● Proficient at using technology, including the Google Suite of applications. Ability to
integrate technology into the students’ learning experience.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
● Must be able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously and work well
under time constraints.

● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.

Description: The Lower School Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, teaching and supervising children in groups and individually, and helping children grow intellectually, socially, and mentally. The lower school teacher communicates regularly with parents on their child's progress.
Primary Responsibilities:

Kitchen Assistant
Title: Dining Services Kitchen Assistant
Department: Dining Services
Reports To: Director of Dining Services
Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt, 10- Month Full-time (Off mid-June to mid-August)
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Benefits: Full benefit eligibility
Description: The position is responsible for assisting the dining services staff in the kitchen with dishwashing, food preparation, events, and other duties related to serving meals to the school’s students and employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Assist with the daily cleanup of the kitchen (including running the commercial dishwasher), preparation, production, execution, and cleanup of the meals, including some cooking and baking.
● Monitor food preparation, portion sizes, garnishing, and presentation to ensure food is prepared and presented acceptably and appealingly.
● As needed, assist with setting up tables and preparing the dining area for family-style table service.
● Interact with students and employees on an ongoing, routine basis.
Position Requirements:
Experience
● Minimum of one year of experience in a similar capacity, preferably working in schools or commercial kitchens.
Education
● Serv-Safe Certificate required. The school will assist with obtaining this certification once hired.
Skills & Knowledge
● Demonstrated knowledge of food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures
● Working knowledge of food service equipment.
● Must be able to work independently and work well under limited time constraints
Additional Requirements:
● Successfully complete a criminal background check
● Successfully complete post-offer employment physical
● Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality are required and a condition of employment.

Communications and Events Coordinator
Title: Communications and Events Coordinator
Department: Admissions/Alumni and Development
Reports To: Director of Admission and Director of Alumni and Development
Classification: Full-time, twelve-month, Exempt
Description:
Responsible for all internal and external messaging and communications for the school and designing and implementing school-wide events and special programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Manage the school’s printed materials and work in conjunction with the Admission Office, Alumni and Development Office, and summer programs for annual publications.
● Coordinate planning, creation, and publication of Bement’s annual Bulletin in collaboration with the Alumni and Development office and outside contractors.
● Manage the school’s social media channels.
● Serve as website administrator, including communications and online calendar.
● Proof and post school publications to the website.
● Work with the leadership team on press and media inquiries.
● Write and submit press releases for print, video, and digital media; seek opportunities to showcase The Bement School through various media channels and online reviews.
● Serve as the primary designer for routine projects such as event invitations, cards, flyers, etc.
● In consultation with leadership team members, maintain the school’s Style Guide and ensure all publications and other school assets consistently utilize our graphic identity.
● Plan and manage all aspects of school events (logistics, budgets, menus, invitations, etc.).
● Maintain annual communications and events calendar.
● Assist as needed with the school's upcoming centennial celebrations.
● Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of Alumni and Development, Director of Admission, or Head of School.
Position Requirements:
● Bachelor’s Degree
● One to three years of relevant work experience.
Skills & Knowledge:
● Savvy technology background, knowledge, or experiences. Particularly with databases
and online administrative tools, including websites.
● A commitment to independent school education and enrichment.
● Excellent written, verbal, editorial, and communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
● Strong organizational skills for multi-tasking, prioritizing responsibilities, and problem-solving.
● Must be able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously and work under limited time constraints.
● Background and/or training in DEI topics are a plus.
