“Because of the academics, boarding life, and the school’s dedication to the arts, Bement allowed me to become the musician I am today. My transition to high school was smooth and enjoyable because of Bement.” Tommy Song '13
Our graduates stand out in the crowd.
We prepare every student for the world beyond Bement. From kindergarten onward, our students embark on a transformative experience to learn how to represent themselves with conviction. Secondary schools throughout the country report that Bement is an “authentic place” where “character development comes first.” They describe our ninth graders as well-rounded, engaged, community-minded, independent thinkers.
Beginning as soon as the student enters the upper school, we provide the expertise and individual attention needed to carefully guide students and parents alike through the placement process. We meet in groups and individually on an ongoing basis. The professionalism of our placement office is grounded in trusting relationships. Our placement director works closely with students, families, and secondary schools to ensure that the match is right.
The application process is a team effort. Our ninth-grade English classes hone writing skills to prepare for application essays. Students study, work, and play as a family with their teachers and coaches, so the recommendation letters truly reflect the students’ gifts and skills.
Secondary schools love the degree to which we know our students. Every fall, admissions directors and associates visit Bement to meet with our placement director and have lunch with our ninth graders. We know firsthand what the trends and needs of each school are, which informs our work as we move forward. Our spring Open House allows admission officers another opportunity to see Bement in action and meet our rising ninth graders. Each year, over seventy schools visit our campus, and they love what they see: young people becoming who they need to be. We send our students into promising horizons, confident and excited about their future.
