The Bement School is
a coeducational day/boarding school serving students in grades K through 9, with
an enrollment of 200+ students. Located on Old Main Street in
Deerfield, MA, the school occupies a unique relationship with a
beautiful and historic community.
Responsible for supporting the planning and execution of fundraising and alumni relations efforts, the alumni and development assistant will have the opportunity to learn and develop in a fun, nurturing, educational environment. Specifically, the assistant will manage projects, problem solve, maintain data, process gifts, provide input, and proactively help maintain the office’s duties. The right candidate will be organized, detail-focused, self-directed, and have excellent people skills that seamlessly translate to Bement’s donor and community base.
A full-time employee, the alumni and development assistant is responsible for all administrative aspects of the alumni and development office, including database maintenance, report and list generation, maintaining social media presence, research, and general office duties that include regular in-person and phone contact with various school constituencies. In addition, the assistant will perform event planning and fundraising tasks, and content development for fundraising and alumni printed materials, social media channels, and website pages. While most of the job functions of this position will be performed on campus and in the office, some travel, evening, and weekend hours will be required. The alumni and development assistant will report directly to the director of alumni and development, and will work with the business office and the director of communications.
Qualifications include three to five years experience in a similar capacity preferably with direct knowledge of independent schools and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Necessary skills include database management (preferably experience with The Raiser’s Edge), excellent writing and editorial skills, strong organizational skills to plan project timelines and adhere to deadlines, ability to manage multiple projects and take initiative, and savvy technology background, particularly with social media. On-campus housing may be available.
