Skiing is a tradition that dates back to the very beginnings of Bement before lifts and snow guns. In addition to our alpine racing team, the entire upper school partakes in recreational downhill, snowboarding, or cross country skiing once a week during our winter term. Faculty and students alike look forward to this break in routine to be social, take in the views, and fully embrace the winter cold. This privilege we expose our students to is a point of pride for Bement.
Former head of school from 1947-1971, Mary "Gug" H. Drexler, passed away on April 23, 2013 at the age of 101.
Remembrances of Gug's time as head of school can be found on the school's alumni facebook page.
