The sun shone bright on the Bement lawn for this year’s Commencement Exercises celebrating the class of 2009. Smiles spread as diplomas and awards were announced, the third grade wooed us as they sang When We Sing, by Mike Wilson, and tearful good-bye’s were had after the Commencement Address by Christopher Shepard, a chaperone for the class’ trip to the Dominican Republic orphanage.
The Katharine Bartlett-Mary Drexler Award for Academic Excellence was presented to Adam Pfander and Allie Nagurney. The Grace Bement Award was presented to Anna Reid, and the Bement School Headmaster’s Award was presented to Lauren McCaw.
We wish the class of 2009 well! You will be missed but you are now ready to fly on your own wings. Spread them far and wide but know that you can always bring them right back to Bement, where it all began.
