Overview
Good basketball starts with defense and intensity. All the coaches at Bement focus on these vital aspects of the game through footwork and intelligent positioning. With varsity and junior varsity teams, there is a wide variety of skill and experience on the court. Our practice and home game courts are at Deerfield Academy. Like many of our other varsity sports, we often play up against high schools in the area.

Jeffrey CadyHead CoachJeff Cady joins Bement as the eighth grade English teacher, an eighth grade advisor, a dorm parent, and a lacrosse and basketball coach. Mr. Cady's love for independent schools was shaped as a four-year boarding student at Westminster School (CT). After college, Mr. Cady taught and coached at the Dunn School (CA), Kinkaid School (TX), and Gonzaga (DC). His path veered from education over the next fifteen years as a management consultant, startup director, and U.S. diplomat. He is thrilled to be back in the classroom and bring his experience to help students navigate challenges, grow, and discover their unique and authentic voices. Outside of teaching, Mr. Cady can be found spending time with his wife and two daughters, hopefully outdoors and in the wilderness.
