Class Agent Job Description
Goals:
You open the door to Bement for your classmates!
The role of the class agent is to cultivate communication, interest,
and support of Bement. Communication is key to building interest
and support. All communication and cultivation efforts should be
made while keeping the mission of the Bement School Alumni/ae Association
(BSAA) is mind. (The BSAA mission statement is attached for your
review.)
Why are Class Agents so important?
It is important that class agents act as ambassadors for Bement.
Many of your classmates have not been back on campus since they
graduated and have little idea of what is happening at Bement today.
Many have changed their addresses several times and do not receive
our regular mailings. Generally, alumni/ae support through the annual
fund is low due to loss of contact. We have found, when contacted,
most alumni/ae are willing to lend their support and knowledge after
having received an update on the school's current happenings, especially
through personal contact.
Responsibilities:
Classmate Updates: Notify the Alumni/ae & Development Office
of classmates' changes in address, phone number, email, job, marital
status, etc. This allows us to keep our school records current.
Holiday Cards: You will be asked to mail, and personalize
our annual Holiday Card for mailing to your classmates. Bement Holiday
Cards, along with stamped, addressed envelopes are provided.
Class Notes: Provide us with news of classmates for the Class
Notes section of the Bement Bulletin. Gathering news is an on-going
process. Call, write or email us with news anytime and be sure to
ask for photos!
Annual Fund: Follow up calls to first appeal for annual fund
that is usually mailed by the end of October. You will be provided
with a call list and thank you notes, along with a packet of phone
tips and sample thank you acknowledgements.
Lost Alums: From time to time we will send you a list of
classmates for whom we have no address. You and/or your classmates
will often be the best source of this information.
Expectations:
- Keep abreast of current issues on campus in order to be a source
of information to your classmates.
- Attend events on campus whenever possible and encourage classmates
to attend Bement events, such as, Homecoming.
- Make a gift to the annual fund, to set an example to fellow
alumni/ae (no gift is too large-no gift is too small).
Email/Telephone/Mailings
The Alumni/ae & Development Office encourages the use of email as
a means of corresponding both with us and with classmates; it is
certainly the most effective because it is quick, non-invasive and
free! Feel free to contact any alum via phone or mail and we will
be happy to reimburse you for any phone charges or postage paid,
upon request. Receipts for charges must be sent to us to submit
to our business office.
